PROBLEM... Perspiration from strenuous activity allows bacteria to develop deep within sports equipment. The result is potentially dangerous contact with the athlete’s skin, and the familiar odors associated with hockey, football, and other sports equipment. NHL stars, such as Joe Thorton (Bruins), Ed Belfour and Mikael Renberg (Maple Leafs), and Darren McCarty (Red Wings), have all lost playing time due to infections caused by open sores becoming infected by the bacteria in their equipment. In 2003, 9 percent of the the St. Louis Rams players fell victim to an outbreak. Locally, in 2004, seven Franklin High School football players became infected.
SOLUTION... Canadian university researchers developed the Sani Sport equipment sanitizing system. The system is designed to destroy the bacteria in sports equipment, recognizing that if you can destroy the bacteria, the odors will also be eliminated.
THE WAY IT WORKS... Four high-intensity UV lights convert Oxygen into Ozone. The ozone is circulated throughout the equipment by two complimenting fans for twelve minutes, killing up to 97% to 99% of the bacteria present. Next, a patented Eco-Mist solution, containing natural Tea Tree Oil, is fogged deep into the equipment to attack the remaining bacteria. This is not another fragrance or scented cover-up, but a scientific, biological process designed to eliminate bacteria and the resulting odors from sports equipment.
